Congratulations on beginning the journey of faith in the life of your child! Whether newly-born, or a little older, meeting Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of Baptism is always a joyful occasion in the life of a child. Friends and family share in this joy, as does the whole Church!
As a smaller parish, we tend to schedule Baptisms individually instead of at a set time of the month. To ensure adequate time for preparation, please contact the parish office at least two months before your anticipated Baptism date.
The fruit of Baptism, or baptismal grace, is a rich reality that includes forgiveness of original sin and all personal sins, birth into the new life by which man becomes an adoptive son of the Father, a member of Christ and a temple of the Holy Spirit. By this very fact the person baptized is incorporated into the Church, the Body of Christ, and made a sharer in the priesthood of Christ.

Parishes welcome new members into the Catholic Church through a process of education, faith sharing, and rituals that are collectively called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The RCIA process includes several stages marked by prayer, reflection, and discussion. There are also several Rites that take place within the context of Mass, concluding with Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist at the Easter Vigil (this year, March 30th, 2024).
If you are interested in going through the RCIA process and becoming a Catholic, please reach out to the parish office for more information.
